Alright, when I said 'The next day' I obviously meant 'In a day or two'. It's seriously taken me this long to recover from the weekend. Well, where on earth do I start? Ah yes, the weather.
Now, since I live in England, rain is sort of a national institution, but thus far this year, we've had really big problems with flooding and whatnot down south. However, over the weekend it got so hot that I ended up with a very fetching facial sunburn, stopping only halfway up my forehead in a bright red line, contrasting with my normal skin colour. Lovely.
The days went by rather uneventfully, I had my usual weekend fix of chopping wood, which (as Catherine so nicely pointed out) I seem to enjoy -far- too much. I didn't even do any sewing. We were rather close to a standpipe as well, so the usual arduous trtek to get water could be done even in barefeet. (As I did on an occasion when it got so hot as it to be preferable to walk around in such a way).
I ended up being drageed...er...going to the beer-tent on the first evening (Friday). The hat-pilfering started on the Friday, and we drew at 3 hats and 2 jackets each. I ended up spending most of the evening chatting to a WWII Re-Enactor. The conversation was good, which made a nice change.
Saturday Morning saw us all awake at 6:30 due to someone from one of the WW re-enactments blowing a damned trumpet. Needless to say we were not impressed. Another semi-uneventful day, and then that night in the beer tent my time was once more take up with chatting to the same chap I'd been talking to the night before. One thing however...one has not been wweirded out until one has seen a multi-period Mosh-Pit. I kid you not...Itwas very surreal.
Other bits and bobs:
* I bought a sheepskin rug for £5
* I made quite a few new acquaintences
* My uncle was 15 minutes late picking me up, and I ended up having KFC
* Contstant teasing every time a plane flew overhead ensued from everyone due to me chatting to the RAF WWII persons
* Multi-period bash at the end was started by an elderly woman (Civil war, blue uniform) whacking a Viking around the head with a bag. T'was hilarious
