I went to Pickering today with Jon. He picked me up at 7:45 and we were together for over twelve hours. I think it was the nicest day I've had in a very long time. We drove up to Pickering and then used a Park & Ride service to get to the actual town. Jon was in his British para kit, and I felt a little out of place standing next to him in my civvies, but he's convinced me to get an ATS uniform. I may have to wear a skirt...but I'll try and do some reasearch...I don't want to if I don't have to.
We went up to Goathshead, where they film 'HeartBeat' and had a drink at the Aidensfield Arms. The train journey back was absolutely packed, (we ended up standing for both trips, there and back) and we stopped off at a mid-station so that Jon could chat to some German WWII Re-Enactors, since he'd like to get into that side of it. I agreed that they had the best uniforms, in any case.
He used the 'G' word, and the 'B' word, so I'm assuming that we're officially together now. A little odd really, in the sense that I have no misgivings about the guy at all...and anyone who knows me knows that I'm a cynic parading as a realist at heart. We'll see I guess. We're going to try and meet up at the weekends when we can.
I had a chat with a friend this-evening (also of the same Cynical nature usually) to reassure them that just because life has been hectic and transitional (for both of us, really) that I'm just going to fade into the background. She's stuck with me. 3 So there. (Sorry Saki my dear).
I think she got the message. Eventually. Maybe she'll start to believe me in five years or so. xD Ah well. I can wait.
