Fact of life #2 - If the shoe pinches...it's probably a bad idea to wear it on an evening out.
-----
So, Uni has been kicking my ass this last week or so. The workload has gone from 'read it if you can be bothered' to 'read, translate, understand otherwise we will tear out your spleen and use it as a skipping rope'. Well, perhaps not that bad, but you get the idea. Atop of all of the academic mayhem, I also decided to join up to different societies. Societies that have socials. In the same week. Monday I was out with the English crowd, which was a really good evening if truth be told. Apparently I somehow managed to get myself onto the English committee. Yay? I'm in charge of web design and proof reading all the literature (leaflets, newsletters etc) that circulate. Yet another task for me to keep atop of. W0ot!
The LUT (Theatre) social was also last night. In truth I wasn't going to go since it was fancy dress (something beginning with L, U or T) but a friend I'd met a few nights previously on the English social goaded me into it. Thus, two hours, a hanging basket, a curtain and a green furry hat later and I went out as a Turtle. Yes folks, I am that awesome. I even got a Teenage Mutant Hero Turtle lunchbox from an Oxfam shop, and put lettuce and some carrots in there. People tended to think it was good, so that's alright.
The LUT evening was again, really good. We ended up in the Union at Red Leicester and I got to chat with a few guys that actually had interesting things to say. I was also danced with. And bought a drink. Great. I go out normally and no-one tends to notice me. I go out as a turtle and guys actually decided to be friendly. Hrm...But in any case, I made a few new friends and had a good time, which is all I could ask for really. (Although admittedly, I did feel at one point as though I was being pity-spoken to since I'd just gone to get a drink and when I came back the group had shifted a little. Ah well, focus on the positives, right?
I'll try to keep this a little more updated. Even if it's only a few sentences, it's better than a massive post at the end of the week.
