November 11th, 11 o'clock.
Silence.
Two minutes to remember what they did
(For Us).
Two minutes to remember
(Over 20 Million)
Not even a 10th of a second each.
Some Honour.

I've finally booked myself an induction for the gym at Uni. Granted, until last Friday I didn't realise that a gym actually -did- exist actually at the Uni...but it does and I now have absolutely no excuse not to begin using it. So I'm going tomorrow so they can teach me how to use the equipment. After that I can go whenever I like for no charge, since I bought my sportscard. (I had to in any case for Fencing, so it's no skin off my nose). Hopefully in a few months I'll fit into my size 10's properly again without having to take in a perpetual breath. -Crosses fingers- Oh, that and I'll have a pair of wonderfully toned arms. It's happened once, it can do so again.
Proteus Productions occurred for the second time this evening. All went rather well. My group (Jo and Dom) remembered all of their lines and acted fantastically. For some reason I was more nervous sitting in the audience than I was when I performed last time. I guess it was because I'd not only written half of what they were acting, but I tried my best to direct them as I thought the piece should be. I was very happy with the result, as everyone else seemed to be, so I gave a sigh of relief.
One of the performances was about what today stood for. November 11th. Remembrance day. The poem at the top of this entry was something I wrote years ago, back in year 8 at school or something like that. Kinda gives way for some deep thoughts, though. For the record, I don't agree with the taking of other people's lives, or with the concept of wars or whatnot...but at the end of the day...they're necessary in certain circumstances, and it's only the short sighted and naive people who seem to think that the entire world could live perfectly with no wars at all. It's human nature. Arrogance, possessiveness, greed. Whatever the reason, fights occur every day. Not on such a scale with such horrific consequences, but as I say, it's in human nature.
Thoughts also need to be spared not only for those who lost their lives in the wars, but those affected by those losses...and even those who survived need our utter gratitude. That also has to extend to the war still going on in Iraq now. We owe the people who fight for their countries so much, and the fact that they do so because of the vices of the people who run the countries they're protecting...well...could you think of any other injustice? How many have died in the name of 'Freedom' masked as the different names of world leaders? They will not be forgotten. Nor will what they fought for.

Here lie the bodies of heroes,
Among the poppies so rich red
That hide the blood that they have shed.
Thank You.
Lest we Forget.
