Fact of life #14 - If you want something too much, something will always trip you up as you run for it.
---------------
I went for my interview at the Games Workshop today. Of course, I didn't get the job. Apparently I didn't particularly know quite enough about the game itself...even though they didn't ask me anything about it. Ah well, their loss I guess. (At least, this is what I'm having to tell myself each time...who'd've thought it'd be so damned hard to find a part time job? It's actually getting absurd). I guess it's partly due to this recession...people only want employees with a lot of experience and suchlike...but at the same time, how am I meant to get that if I'm not given a chance? -le sigh- I'll probably work for free over Easter in an office or some such in order to get myself a new character reference and some experience.
I've put my name down for auditioning for a part in one of the main theatre productions next semester; 'The Wyrd Sisters' by Terry Pratchett. Now, he's not an author I've ever really gotten along with, but I can see why others do like his writing style, and besides...the Director doesn't need to know that I've never read a book by him. I enjoy auditioning in any case, it'll be another amusing event.
Hrm...ah yes, I'm now a Grade 1 at Sabre! I passed on Sunday, which I was quite proud of. of course, it was the absolute basics, but at least it shows that I've stuck with something for a while. I just have to concentrate on Grade 2 now.
It also feels as though I've been doing nothing but translating things into Old English just recently. I got the last few verses of 'The Wanderer' done yesterday and was thus able to breathe a sigh of relief that I'd done it all. It's primarily just a case of working hard on my Renaissance essay now. I've enough time...I'll do it comfortably, I daresay.Labels: Essay, Fencing, LUT, Sabre, Warhammer
